How to Get Involved
We are one Body in Christ with many gifts to offer
In the Body of Christ, there are a diversity of members with a diversity of gifts and talents, all used for the glory of God and the edification of Christ’s Body on earth. At the Cathedral, parishioners use their gifts to help lead worship, feed the hungry, teach children’s Sunday school, coordinate fellowship events, work for social, racial, and economic justice, provide pastoral care for parishioners in times of loss, and so much more. If you are interested in serving Christ through service at the Cathedral, please contact our office.
Joining the Cathedral Community
If you are interested in becoming a Nativity Parishioner, we are excited for you to join the Cathedral Community. Below, you will find the steps to become a parishioner, based on your current church affiliation.
I am already a Confirmed Episcopalian.
That’s great! To transfer your membership from another parish, contact the parish administrator of your previous parish. They will be able to help you transfer your membership to the Cathedral.
I am coming from a different denomination
(Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Non-Denominational, etc.).
No problem. All baptized Christians are considered full members of the church, and there are no second class citizens of God’s Kingdom. We do, however, ask that you meet with one of our priests and take a new parishioner orientation (held as needed) upon joining the Cathedral community.
Many people who come from a different denomination or church tradition, choose to be Confirmed in the Episcopal church as an official sign of Episcopal Church affiliation. Confirmation is a Sacramental Rite in which you affirm your faith in Jesus Christ and publicly affiliate with the Episcopal branch of the world-wide Jesus Movement. Those being Confirmed are expected to participate in Confirmation classes which are typically held during Lent each year (the six weeks before Easter). The Rite of Confirmation takes place on Easter Sunday. To learn more about the Confirmation process, please email Father Jon.
I am kind of new to this church thing.
There’s nothing wrong with that. If you haven’t been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we welcome you to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Jesus himself was baptized as a sign of solidarity with humankind, and for over two thousand years, baptism has served as the entrance into the Body of Christ. Through baptism, we are mystically united with Jesus through his death and raised to new life through his resurrection. Baptism can happen on any Sunday, and the only requirement is a sincere intention to follow Jesus. To inquire about baptism, please contact one of our priests.
